IF YOU WILL NOT BE COMPETING FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] ASAP!  The races are full, and alternates can only run if accepted athletes inform me in advance that they are unable to compete.  If you simply don't show up, that will prevent someone else from running, so you will be moved to the bottom of the alternate list for any future races.  The races take place on a Friday afternoon, so make sure your work schedule will allow you to compete.

RACE TIMES

Friday, May 5, 2017 - Oregon Twilight Meet, Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon.

3:00 PM (UPDATED but still tentative!) - Masters Mile
(single race, combined men and women)

4:10 PM (UPDATED but still tentative) - Masters 200m
(two heats with mixed men and women depending on final entries and scratches)

Race times are tentative!!!  The exact times may change based on the number of college and elite entries, plus the TV broadcast schedule.  The semi-final schedule will be announced on Wednesday, May 3rd.  I will send you an update if the times change, but also check when you arrive at the meet to see if there are any last minute changes.

There will be two heats of the 200m.  Please double check with the clerks to make sure you know which heat you are in.  The final determination of which heat each runner is in may not be made until the day of the meet.  The meet officials will determine who is in which race, and the OTC Masters have no control over that.

PACKET PICKUP

You will need to pickup your packet when you arrive at Hayward Field.  The packet pickup will be near the ticket booths at the Southeast corner of the track, which is on Agate street at the scoreboard end of the track.  Your packet will include your bib to be worn on the front of your shirt during the competition.  There will also be a wrist band to allow you to access the stadium and warm-up areas.

ENTRY TO HAYWARD FIELD

Competing masters athletes will be admitted free to the meet.  Athletes may stay to watch the rest of the meet after they compete, but note that the West Grandstand is reserved seating only and not open to athletes.  All non-competing spectators will need to purchase a ticket.  Masters athletes can only enter the track after picking up their packet and showing your wrist band.

PARKING

Since this meet is on a Friday during the school day, parking can be very difficult so plan to arrive early.  Please read the signs to avoid a parking ticket.

CHECK IN

Normal meet procedures will be in place, administered by the normal University of Oregon meet officials and not the Oregon Track Club Masters.  The clerk area is under the West Grandstand, near the start/finish line.  Athletes must report under the grandstands no later than 30 minutes before the start of the event.  You will be given hip numbers to be worn on the sides of your shorts for electronic timing.  You will be escorted onto the track by meet officials.  The meet officials can help with any questions you have.

Note that check in is NOT the same thing as packet pickup!  You must pickup your packet when entering Hayward Field, and also check in under the West Grandstands AT LEAST 30 minutes before your event.

WARM-UPS

No warm-ups are allowed on Hayward Field.  You must use the practice track or athletic fields at the southwest corner of Hayward Field which are accessed by a gate near the Hayward finish line.  There is also a small warmup area underneath the west grandstands (the start/finish side) for final warmups and for keeping dry if it is raining.  PLEASE DO NOT GO INTO THE INFIELD BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR RACE.  Various field events will already be taking place, and we want to make sure everyone stays safe.

SPIKES

If you wear them, spikes must not exceed 1/4 inch in length.  Spikes must be standard pyramid or Christmas tree style only.  Pin spikes are not allowed.

SEED TIMES

If you are in the 200m, please check seed times below.  If your time is inaccurate, please let me know.  If you do not have a recent time for the event, make your best guess of your expected finish time.  This is important so we make sure you are placed in the most appropriate lane, or heat if we have more than one.  The mile will be run as a single heat, so seed times are not critical.

ENTRIES

Alternates can only compete if other athletes cancel.

Current entry status is at http://www.otcmasters.org/entrystatus.php

QUESTIONS?

You can email or call me with any questions prior to the meet.  The meet officials should be able to help with any questions at the meet itself if you are unable to locate me.  I will be at the meet photographing the races and to help with any last minute details.
