January 2009 UpdatePublished by
1/5/09 - Unfortunately, we were not able to generate enough interest on short notice to send a team to the USATF National Cross Country Championships. In fact, even though the championships were in the Pacific Northwest, and over 300 masters competed, there wasn't a single OTCM runner. OTC (not masters) member and board member Liz James did win the 40-44 age group (2nd overall behind Carmen Ayala-Troncoso), but elected to race for the Eastside Runners and not represent OTC or OTCM. In 2009, none of the announced masters national championships (track and field, road, or cross country) are in the western half of the country, making it more difficult for OTCM athletes to compete. But we will be making efforts to assemble official teams for scored events, and well as coordinate individuals traveling to meets. There will be some local road races with team scoring as well. Send me an email if you interested in competing on a team. For most events, you don't need to be fast - the more people the better. |
